All of these units follow the standard rules for their factions. Additionally they are now only 26 wounds instead of 27 (including the Lancer). The Gatling Cannon is unchanged, and the Cleavers Slash profile gets a helpful boost moving to 2 damage from D3. Since Veterans have a real use case at the moment, this seems honestly fantastic. TheInquisition retain only their two Named Characters. - Dave #WarhammerCommunity #battlereport #podcast, Massive thanks to @warhammerofficial for sending us a free review copy of Warcry Bloodhunt! The Astra Militarum were the OG beneficiaries of Forge World units, and they retain a prodigious range, though some of their options have been archived off as part of this update (mostly very similar variants on existing units). Other Cerastus-Knights are all only 12 movement at top bracket now, which isnt a huge thing, but it is still a nerf. People are sad about the leviathan, but before the compendium he was approaching a Knight in points, had terrible rules, was more expensive than the loyalist version and his guns were average. Alright lets start with the cool stuff that only Chaos Space Marines get, instead of the things we share with loyalists. Innocuous but also undeniably winners we have Tetras, which trade out their one shot, three tokens markerlight for a markerlight that just has heavy 3, while going down 5pts each to boot. The Reaper has been dialed back abit from its absurdly pushed position in Chapter Approved, going up a few points and being standardised to the Raider profile, but it keeps the ability to be Covens so can still abuse Dark Technomancers to your hearts content, with the big profile of the main gun even getting a damage boost. Custodes Telemon Dreadnought. I reckon the Studio have done a great job here at bringing together all these profiles updated and tweaked for the new addition with baked in compatibility to their parent Codexes. Much better than the past, where overcharge always did damage and staying still merely let you shoot volley fire twice. Depending on how the meta moves, this could help or hinder the Ares. A nice little boost overall. All told, the leviathan takes a substantial hit to both offense and defense, balanced out by dropping all the way down to a base 220 points, and only up to 240 with the common double storm cannon loadout. Lets look at how things shake out. This works similarly to the Dreadclaw, but can carry up to 20 INFANTRY models instead, and mounts the equivalent of 10 missile launchers for some reason. At a high level, you generally see: With that out the way, on to the factions. the Soulshatter Bombard is just a Demolisher Cannon now, and the Hellmaw Flame cannons are Assault and have a 12 range. You Give Goonhammer Writers Serotonin. The Dreadnoughts really eat shit here. Fast, durable-ish units that are OK in melee is absolutely something the guard range is badly missing for 9th, so it does feel like a Krieg Vanguard or Outrider to use some of these is a genuinely plausible option. The Lynx also gets a substantial simplification and a cost reduction, and probably ends up more practical out of it. I have been crying out for the Augmented Mount to be usable on any strength of attack, as previously this was locked to S4 and below only, which was a little situational. Orion Assault Dropship: Other than it has less attacks when degraded, entirely unchanged, same points etc. Sicarans in general also bumped up to a 2+ save, making them surprisingly durable, and took a substantial points cut. The Necrons get a new fortification in the form of the Sentry Pylons these have made the move from the Heavy slot freeing up some precious Heavy choices for more Doomstalkers! Medusas of all flavours get a more functional boost some go up in cost slightly, but the damage on their big gun increases to d6, obviously very nice and much more scary to be up against when theyre well hidden. Corbax isnt bad, but hes not exciting, either. Join us on www.youtube.com/spruesbrews from 7pm - 9pm each Sunday! Combined with the contents of the new Space Marines Codex you will be able to carry the torch for these under represented armies! Previously this rule made you immune to battleshock from ranged weapons, meaning that the enemy had to kill you to a man if you wanted to shoot the Krieg off an objective. The basic and command squad variants go up to three wounds a pop with a 5+ FNP for 15pts each, and get slightly improved in melee from their previous incarnation, with their mounts getting a point of AP on their attacks. ability rather than regularWaaagh!, meaning that you need an alternative boss if you want to buff up infantry. These headers then drill down further into the various factions within that bucket, detailing any specific rules or codex interactions, all the datasheets and then the points values collected together at the end of each faction in the much easier style seen in the other Codex releases for 9th edition! This seems a really fun way of making Titans useable in a normal game, and Im looking forward to seeing how my titans fare as soon as we are able to film battles again! Time will tell. The Custodians get the profiles that have previously available on the Forge World website, not massive updates for these outside of some points adjustments, but all the Dreadnoughts including the Telemon have been given the same rule as Astartes Dreads allowing them to reduce damage of incoming shots by 1! Also the only weapon that costs points now is the Arachnus Storm Cannon (which costs the same as before effectively), so every other weapon load out is cheaper now, which is cool. Theycould be OK spammed withGunnery Experts. They all picked up a substantial number of wounds, with a warhound now having 50 wounds and a warlord 120, but dropped in toughness, with the warlord the only titan at T9. Both Hierodule builds getmassive discounts too (and sit in the Heavy Support slot), and the Scythed option ends up in a pretty similar spot to the Dimachaeron, though Id probably give that monstrosity the not because of its invuln and mobility tricks (though to be fair if you have a slot free to put Dermic Symbiosis on the Hierodule its probably better). Just like with their Imperial counterparts, we see updated profiles for every variant of Imperial Knight, giving the Chaos Knights access to a large pool of different chassis, these have also been tweaked in regards to points values in line with the Imperial versions! The Barbed is a pricier beast, but has some mean guns and a 2+ save, making it a spicy Greater Daemon tier hitter. Credit: Jack Hunter. Having to use a Lord of War slot on this is, obviously, kind of terrible, but its also extremely hilarious, and has been pushed hardenough cost wise to make it at least fun to use. Terrax-pattern Termite Assault Drill-Credit: Pendulin. Blood Ravens Ultramarines with Stalwart and Knowledge is Power. A lot of the profiles have been tidied a little and they benefit greatly from this, as degrading profiles on low wound models like this was often a problem in the previous edition. If so, that sucks Drills at least were something Id have liked to see stick around in Death Guard armies, and the loss of them is a major blow to a lot of current competitive builds. Of the various suits, the Rvarna feels like the big winner. At least they are 10 points cheaper now for every build except double claws (which stayed the same). Grey Knights get a variant of the Land Raider which has psycannons on it, for some reason with a different profile than seen on normal ones. Now, sure he's a bit less survivable with t7 (and not a 4++ in cc, oh noooo) but his guns are sort of better and he's so cheap. A WS/BS 2+ contemptor dread, hes a 9 wound character, has a 4+ invulnerable save, and can do a few mortal wounds when he completes a charge. Cool, but nothing particularly good. Relic Contemptor Dreadnought. This makes the Exalted Daemons much easier to take in a game, and I cant wait to include them in lists again as they are some of my favourite models and deserve to be on the battlefield again! Thankfully they do also get a small benefit in the ability for a vehicle to fire on a 4+ when they are killed, making it a danger at times to take out Krieg vehicles, especially ones with nasty weapons! Why are there no pictures of the vehicles. At that point, slap an ATS on it and the main guns are straight up better heavy burst cannons on a chassis thats tougher than a Riptide, so while you do trade off a bit of flexibility, its at least a usable option. This iteration of the rules really gets rid of that, and while there are still good or bad units theres a lot less room between them. Imperial Fists Deimos Vindicator Laser Destroyer. Finally, theHades Breaching Drill looks kind of great now its been detached from the mandatory tag-along veterans, so you can take them as a separate squad as desired, and its melee attacks have been charged up, both getting d3+3 instead of d3 and being flat D3 against most targets and flat D6 against vehicles. Units have also had the CORE keyword added, setting them up to be futureproofed for a future Custodes Codex. We see quite a few units get tweaked to remove degrading profiles too, such as on the Blood Slaughterer. The double shooting Spiculus if you didnt move ability moved to the weapon, so functionally the same, and gained the dread -1D ability. Out the gate as our first winner we have theHornet, because all the reasons they used to be good have pretty much stayed the same or improved. 9th Edition Imperial Armour Compendium: The Goonhammer Review Only once all shields are down can you start pumping damage into the Titan itself. BIG bonus. imperial armour compendium 9th edition pdf trove - PAPADO Finally, the dark horse that I am hoping doesnt turn out to go anywhere of the units in this book with titan in their name, the Revenant Titan is probably closest to being decent in a Strike Force game. But usable. There are some changes in weapons as well stormcannon arrays trade 2 shots for an extra 12 range, melta lances gain blast but swap from 2d3 to d6 shots, and the grav-flux bombard doubles in shots and has a more standard grav weapon statline. #warhammercommunity #warhammer #warhammer40k #oldhammer #oldhammer40k #40k #2ndedition #2ndedition40k #tyranids #tyranid #nids #paintingwarhammer #painting #paintingminiatures #miniatures #miniaturespainting #hobby #wargames #wargaming #metal #alien #hivetyrant #warmongers, Awesome fun stream working on the 90s Hive Tyrant! It does still have an incredibly silly amount of firepower, some guns even getting better than before, but it also drops to BS3+, and I think honestly the dream is probably dead. Change). Imperial Fists Fellblade. On the whole, the Kytan is better as a unit, but still worse than it was in 8th edition because its a Lord of War and in 9th edition those are terrible if they cant be your Supreme Commander. My trusty Index: Forces of the Astra Militarum was starting to look a little dog-eared by the end of the edition! There isnt any massive rules changes, but some minor adjustments and a few buffs/discounts scattered around (or in the case of Venatari, a minor change with a HUGE impact). Carab Culln takes most of the generic leviathan nerfs (see below), and also loses out on both his feel no pain aura and most of the interest from the death-hold special rule it no longer lets you hit for mortal wounds and simply lets the heavy bolter fire with no penalty at units in engagement range. Already very good, the Terrax picks up several buffs that cement it as the premiere way to transport firstborn marines. Each titan has a different number of void shields, from warhounds with 2 up to warlords with 8. Cerastus Knight-Castigator. Tau also do very well in the points department with the Rvarna getting a big points cut, we also see a number of weapons tweaks too, with increased damage and strength here and there across the range, perhaps pointing at any future upcoming changes in a new book on the horizon. Sagittarum Guard [CORE] : Same points, but apparently the bolter half of their gun was a heavy bolter, because now it is 2 damage.
